Only mom

Only  mom will hold your little dog for you like its a grandkid

me

Only  mom will tell you that you kind of look like Kate Middleton.
Only mom will play wiggle the gingerbread cookie down your face game to keep the grandkids entertained

Only mom can really help  you feel better when you are sick

Only mom will sit up and watch Bob Ross with you late at night

Only mom lets you be a little girl the way you want to be

Only mom will laugh with you when no one else will

Only mom forgives and loves the bad kids more than anyone else

I am thank-ful for my mom and so glad she beat cancer

The tale of A fishy birdhouse and a tribute to mom

The cold hard truth.  I am an assumer.   I will admit that.  You see... my little fishy birdhouse came up missing the other day and what is the first thing I do?   I assume.   I assumed the neighbor kids must have been playing by my house and found it ( it is kind of like a treasure).  After all birdhouses do not have legs.
I also am a procrastinator.  The birdhouse had fallen out of the tree and landed in the dry creek bed.  I kept looking at it day after day, saying to myself  I'm gonna crawl down there as soon as some snow melts and get that thing.

It was too late.  Someone else beat me to it.
Sometimes I wonder if I am blind.  I seem to think I am all intuitive and so in touch with and aware of my surroundings.  But did  I notice that I didn't actually have to wait till the snow melted to retrieve the birdhouse from the creek bed? NOOOOOO.  I could have just walked around to the other side where there was no snow.

So what do I do?  I rant and rave to my friends about how the neighbors kids must have taken my birdhouse,  the only evidence solely based on having previously seen them play near my house in the creek bed.
Then I email my  landlord, because I was ready to go poundin' on some door.
Needless to say my intuition does work every once in awhile.  I had a feeling to just wait, don't accuse, just wait, it's gotta be around here somewhere, my inner self said to me.
I was walking up the driveway after a walk yesterday and looked up to see ( angels singing) the birdhouse.  Come to find out my landlord had actually saved the little birdhouse from the creek bed and placed it up on the meter reader box and I had been walking right past it for days.  My gut sank.  What if I had pounded on the neighbors door looking for a stupid birdhouse?  Asking if they had seen it would obviously suggest that they had taken it.  After all birdhouses don't have legs.
So I faced the cold hard truth that I do not behave perfectly like I think  I do sometimes. ("For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think",...Romans 12:3)  Ouch.
And when  am I ever going to learn this darn lesson in assuming or jumping to conclusions?

Thankfully God knows I'm not perfect either.

SO mom, you must have done a good job, for me to think I behave so perfectly in the world.  But the truth is , even though you have taught me how to behave so well in this world,  I mess up.  The truth that you have taught me, is that when I mess up, I can be forgiven.   SO thanks mom for all that you taught me and are teaching me, and  for being such a good mom no matter how bad I mess up.  That goes for God too.

Cinco De Mayo...environmentally friendly dinner party went off without a hitch. After 7 people, 20 some tacos, beans, rice, margaritas, & coronas,  not even 1/4 of the trash can was full.

Addictions

I had this great post in my head in the middle of the night last night.  All I can remember of it is "addiction" .  SO if I start writting maybe it will come to me.  What got me thinking about addictions ?   OH YEAH, one of those weird t.v shows.  I don't watch t.v. that often, so when I do it's too much for my brain to handle.
I was up all night tossing and turning over strange addictions, and what are my addictions?  I don't usually post this kind of thing but I had some kind of point to the story , that I also can't remember.
Ok where was I?....Addictions.  I may have just realized that I may be addicted to a few things.  Like  hot coffee every single morning, having a yummy tropical drink when in the tropics, having an ice cold beer on a hot summer day, having a hot toddy on a cold winter day,  OH HERE WE GO, and of course having a margarita or 2 on  Cinco De Mayo.
It's all coming to me now.

First I see this t.v. show on addictions, have you ever heard of adult baby?  or being a mom to a real born baby doll?  YIKES.  That's when I got to thinking, hey I'll take drinking over that.   Then I started thinking about Cinco De Mayo, and how I love to have margaritas, then of course dinner party comes to mind, and with that how to have an environmentally friendly dinner party, and how I forgot about Earth Day because everday is earth day to me.  I hate garbage, and the less of it I can make, the better I feel.  Maybe I am also a little addicted to recycling.
So here are my 5 suggestions for an earth friendly party.
1.  Use real dishes, cups and silverware.   Dishwashers are actually pretty energy efficient.  If you are afraid of your dishes getting broken, (what kind of dinner party are you having  anyway?)  You can get tons of dishes ( including margarita glasses) at the thrift store for cheap,( probably cheaper than paper and plastic dishes) and then just return them when you are done if you don't have space for them.  ( or use them for a mosaic project).
FACT: It is cheaper to wash plates in a dishwasher than to buy paper plates. (http://www.freeby50.com/2009/09/washing-dishes-is-cheaper-than-buying.html)
2.  If you're going to have bottled and canned drinks, have recycle bins available.
FACT: An aluminum can that is thrown away will still be a can 500 years from now!
3.  Use cloth napkins.
FACT:  Americans use 85,000,000 tons of paper a year; about 680 pounds per person.
4.  If you're able to , compost unfinished food.
FACT: Every year, each American throws out about 1,200 pounds of organic garbage that can be composted.
5. Use environmentally friendly products  to clean up , such as Mrs. Meyers.
These 5 steps will practically leave you with no garbage to take out the next morning.
HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!

Earth and body friendly tribal arm bands

I don't know about you, and tattoos, but I choose not to get one solely because I am so indecisive that I am afraid that I'll change my mind about liking it after I get one.
Now about KEFIR , I just drank some, and have been eyeing the plastic bottle it came in  for the week or so it has taken me to polish it off.   AS I finished off the last sip Saturday morning, it dawned on me  that this would make the perfect arm band.
This is my first attempt at tribal band art , so I  need some practice, but this is what I came up with.

Save a fish

  Wait, don't throw it away!
Plastic that gets dumped in the ocean kills 100,000 sea creatures every year. www.recycling-revolution.com/recycling-facts.html
The first step is re-ducing.  The next step is re-using.  Save a fish, make a bracelet.

bottle top magnets

It snowed last night so this morning I took a quiet, peaceful x.c.ski.  It is still winter like. On that note, I don't have  anything else to say right now.  Except that I really do like how heavy duty these magnets are.

Embracing winter

I looked out my window this  morning  to happily see sunshine and fresh snow.  I love spring skiing, but we don't get much of it at the resort.  In fact the last day at the resort was so nasty most people quit after 1 run because it was so cold , foggy, and windy that you couldn't see worth a hill of beans.

So by the time spring actually rolls around here, the resorts are closed and everyone has fishing on their mind.  Including my little dog Stinky.  She drew this fish while she was sniffing around for a place to tinkle this morning.
Drawn by Stinky

Stinky and Tiny (Tiny's the big one)
I decided to head out for a short ski,  just up the road.

In the summer this is a gate, its almost totally covered right now

This is the creek that runs along side the road

Here is where the hiking trail would go if you could see it

Some old buildings at the quarry, I'm going to ski down the little hill behind them

Before

what goes up must come down

After

Not long after arriving home the clouds rolled in and it began to snow.  They say in Idaho " If you don't like the weather, wait a minute."
